In addition to medication, talk therapy is essential in helping those living with BPD. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, also known as DBT, is a form of psychotherapy that has been proven to help with the management and reduction of BPD symptoms. This article by Aubrey Bailey, PT, DPT, CHT, is a great primer or refresher about all things DBT:

“DBT treatment is often broken down into four stages, as well as a “pretreatment” stage.4 Clients can work through stages in order, or they may need to return to previous stages to work through specific issues that come up during treatment.”
