The first week of October has been declared as the first ever annual Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Awareness Week by the members of Australian BPD Foundation.

Various BPD-related organisations joined hands to spread awareness regarding evidence-based cure of the disorder. This awareness week would also focus on educating families regarding positive recovery and resiliency regarding BPD, according to

BPD is a serious mental disorder which shows symptoms such as continuous instability in mood, self-image, and functioning. These symptoms lead to experiences such as bad relationships and rash actions.

A person belonging to any age group can suffer from this disorder at any point of time. According to statistics by the 1 to 4 percent of the population suffers from BPD. There are chances of this disorder to be linked with abuse or a traumatic past.

Sadly, 10 percent of people suffering from BPD turn suicidal and end their lives. This is the reason why it is very crucial to have an understanding about this disorder. The BPD awareness week also focuses on effective methods to cure this disorder and make the quality of life better for the patients suffering from it.
